| Driverounds are a great place to start if you’re new to offroading and just wanting to start to dip your toe in the mud! That said, these popular events also attract more experienced drivers who enjoy the often large sites for exploring. We lay out a straightforward, well-signed route which should suit a novice in a ‘softroader’ like a Freelander, a RAV4 or similar. It aims to allow a driver to get used to the handling of their car without damaging it and without proving to be too nerve-wracking. We also have plenty of friendly marshals who are more than happy to have a chat about offroad driving techniques and ensure that drivers make the most of their day out; we recognise that we all had to start somewhere!

Heavy Vehicles
By having access to some fantastic MoD land, we are able to have heavy vehicle driverounds, too. Usually, they are combined with a normal driveround and a wider route is marked where trucks can test themselves. These interesting offroaders have included a Stalwart, Zil, Kraz, Bedford, Ural, GMC, Pinzgauer, Unimog and even an army museum Conqueror testing its Rolls Royce engine!
Camping Weekends
To build on the friendliness and popularity, we’ve added camping weekends during the better weather where attendees can arrive from Saturday lunchtime and camp. The kids play, the parents lay out some of the site and the day ends with good food, chat and even the odd drink!

Our regulations are minimum. Cars must be road taxed and have an MoT.
All must have a factory-fitted roof (like a normal car) or roll cage for rollover protection. For example, a summery Defender with roof off would not be able to drive. Where fitted, seatbelts must be worn whilst driving and all occupants seated.
Good offroad practice includes ensuring that all vehicle contents are stowed away or tied down. A shackle hitting you on the head at the very least will hurt and at worst it will kill you! As you get enthused, we suggest a good tow hitch or recovery point (not the manufacturer’s lashing eye) and your own heavy duty rope, but if it’s your first time, don’t worry as we’ll manage to sort you out! |
